Good Friday,Good News,and Jesus' resurrection

Good News Extra:Jerusalem,Good Friday,AD 29
JEWISH REBEL EXECUTED
On this day Roman Authorities executed the popular preacher of Nazareth,Jesus Christ on charges of sedition and treason .He was arrest and tried by Governor Pontius Pilate who gave a verdict that "He was blameless" but the people want him dead and to be hanged on the cross. Why the cross! But the death of the cross of JESUS of Nazareth has proved to be the greatest event in history and the cornerstone of our christian faith.
It's
Good Friday, good news, and Jesus' resurrection.
"My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness."-Hymn-writer Edward Mote.
At first glance, Good Friday seems like the ultimate misnomer. If Jesus suffered and died on this day, then why is it called Good Friday?
On one level, the answer is about the meaning of words.
The term "Good" as applied to Good Friday is an Old English expression meaning holy. It's often called Holy Friday also.
But in another sense, Good Friday is always tied to Easter Sunday, which is a joyful celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. He could not have been resurrected if he had not died first.
C. H. Spurgeon said it clearly: "My hope is not because I am not a sinner, but because I am a sinner for whom Christ died. My trust is not that I am holy, but that Christ died for me. My rest is here, not in what I am, or shall be, or feel, or know; but in what Christ is, in what Christ did, and is still doing as He stands before yonder throne of glory."
The whole process of human salvation is ascribed in the New Testament to the substitutionary life and death of Jesus Christ. At the moment Jesus died, the foundation of our salvation was finally completed. The work of salvation was finalized when Jesus cried, "It is finished!" Nothing more needed to be done.
The death of Jesus Christ was a substitutionary sacrifice that atoned for sin. Christ died in the place of sinners. Christ suffered the just punishment for our sin.May the reasons for Christ death on the cross brings fulfillment to your lives.Happy Good Friday.
